FAMS

Missional Families

As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.  - Jesus (John 20:21)

If you've trusted Jesus, there's a really good chance he sought and found you through someone else. He calls us all to be that for others. Found people Find people.

But how? We gotta stop resorting to a Sunday Morning Invite as our first go-to move. Good preaching & splashy music isn't usually going to attract people in Sonoma County (especially younger generations, most of whom have no experience with church). At PCC, we're persuaded that the best way to introduce people to the love of Jesus isn't something new but something radically old.

And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their foods with glad and generous hearts...they enjoyed the favor of all the people in the city. And the Lord added to their number  - A historical description of what the church used to be like (Acts 2:46-47)

FAMS (a.k.a missional families) are attempts to live out the above. Small teams of 3-5 persons, inviting friends and neighbors around the dinner table, and sharing the love of God slowly, deliberately and in relationship as we share life together - like a family.

We've quietly launched a few FAMs. Our hope is that every person who comes along the journey with PCC will eventually join a FAM (in their own time and at God's prompting).

How do I join a FAM? First dive into Waiting Rooms....

WAITING ROOMS

Wed Nights, 6-7:30 pm

"While they were together worshipping the Lord and fasting, God the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul to be sent out to reach others" - historical account of the early church in Antioch (Acts 13:1-2)

We know not everyone feels ready to be sent out to reach others, especially (!) if you're brand new to the church. And that is totally okay. At PCC, you'll never feel rushed, guilted or made to feel less than for not quite feeling ready. So...

Inspired by Acts 13, our regular forum for eating together, growing together, praying together each week is waiting rooms

  • 6 pm - A light dinner together as a church.
  • 6:30 - Singing together followed by a brief  teaching/encouragement.
  • 6:50 - Break into smaller groups (waiting rooms) to discuss what we've learned, pray for one another, and spend some time waiting on the Lord.
  • 7:30 - Walk to your car encouraged.

...believing that at some point, the Lord will call and send us to reach a particular people (co-workers, neighbors, friends, bowling group, etc) or call each of us to team up with someone whom He is calling to do so through a FAM....kinda like He did in Acts 13.

We are not trusting in a method or program but on God to do the calling and to form new FAMS from our Wed Night experiences.

Again, all in God's time - no pressure, no hinting. So come join us on Wednesday Nights starting Sept 6.

** WE HAVE SUSPENDED WAITING ROOMS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2023 and are re-tooling for community (frequency & audience) for January 2024.

(** Families w/young kids - We want everyone to participate. As such, we will help reimburse you for childcare/babysitting if you have need)
